Miscellania!!!

Hello, and welcome to our page!! Miscellania is the only all-female group at Bowdoin, and we are so excited to share a little bit about who we are and what we do :)

Bowdoin's original all-women's a cappella group arranges music ranging from classical to pop and performs at various events both on and off campus. We create community both within and outside our group, adding to the rich musical opportunities at Bowdoin College!

Why Aren't We Recruiting This Year?

Deciding whether or not to recruit this fall was a tough call, and one we made with a lot of love in our hearts. Being in Missy is an experience beyond just rehearsing music, and we didn't feel like we'd be able to offer that experience in an authentic way if we weren't able to welcome and spend time with new members in person. Instead, by choosing not to recruit, we hope to engage with a broader range of first years, offering a variety of events and workshops where anyone can drop in to learn a new skill, meet our members, and see what it's like to be part of the a cappella community on campus!

Emma Kyzivat

Hi!!! My name is Emma and I am a senior Environmental Studies and Asian Studies coordinate major from Simsbury, CT. I joined Missy my freshman year and it has been such an amazing part of my Bowdoin experience! Aside from Missy, I am a captain of the Women's Ultimate Frisbee team, mentor for middle school girls in Bath, and love getting outside in the beautiful state of Maine!!

Hi!! My name is Ayana, I use she/her pronouns, and I'm one of Missy's three seniors this year. I'm from Seattle, WA, majoring in biology & environmental studies with an English minor! I'm a co-founder and leader of Bowdoin's Multiracial Student Union, and if we were on campus, you'd also find me leading BOC trips, organizing for climate justice with Sunrise, co-leading the Bowdoin Naturalists, researching bumblebee behavior, and singing in the chamber choir :))

Hey!! My name is Kate, and I am a junior this year. I'm a Neuroscience and Education coordinate major from New York City! I have been in Missy since my freshman year, and am also on the Crew team, as well as a mentor for 5th graders in Bowdoinham! Fun fact about me- if I had to pick one thing to eat for the rest of my life, it would be red pepper hummus and preztel chips. I can't wait to meet you all :)!

Hi guys, I'm Adelaide!! My hometown is Delmar, NY, and I am a Computer Science Major with an undecided minor. Aside from Missy, I am on WBOR management (Bowdoin's local radio station), I'm a computer science tutor, and am also in BWICS. Fun fact- I was born in Brunswick Maine!

Kate Fosburgh

Hi! My name is Kate Fosburgh and I am a junior here at Bowdoin! My hometown is Winchester, MA, but I am currently in Pismo Beach, CA taking classes remotely. I'm an environmental studies and economics coordinate major. In addition to singing with Miscellania, I also swim for the Women's Swim and Dive Team. I love getting outside for hikes, runs, bike rides, and beach days. Fall in Maine is my absolute favorite!

Natsumi Meyer

Hi I'm Natsumi Meyer! I'm a current sophomore from Cleveland, Ohio, and possibly an English or Psychology major. I love fresh air, good views, dancing around, and sometimes teaching kiddos how to Irish dance.

Hey guys I'm Jess! I am in the class of 2023/2024 lol. As of right now, my major is ~undecided~.  My hometown is Belmont, MA ROLL MARAUDERS!! In addition to MIssy, I am a member of the Women's Basketball team ­ƒÿñ.  Fun fact about me- I announced on public radio that my favorite Instagram account to follow was Michael Phelps's baby.

Hi! My name is Kalyn Duarte and I am from Norwalk, CT and am a sophomore! I am majoring in Government and minoring in Latin American Studies. I am an alto in Miscellania and joined last year!

Annie Mahoney

Hey everyone! I'm Annie! I'm a sophomore this year, and I'm not sure what I'll be studying yet. I'm from Richmond, Virginia and at Bowdoin I split my time between the Swim team, Missy, School, and being outside as much as I can. A fun fact about me is that I can tie shoelaces really quickly.
