The Bowdoin A Cappella Council is the organizing body that maintains communication among the Bowdoin a cappella groups and plans the all-group programs that occur throughout the academic year. The Council is also in charge of distributing recording funds at the beginning of each academic year in accordance with a flexible three-year cycle.

Active Minds at Bowdoin College is a chapter of the larger nonprofit organization, Active Minds, which is focused on mental health awareness on college campuses across the U.S. In the Bowdoin College chapter, we strive to promote peer-to-peer discussion about mental illness. This includes ending the stigma surrounding mental health as well as advocating for conversations about suicide prevention. This is accomplished by campus events including speaker presentations, movie screenings, fundraisers, and more activities either focusing on education or stress management.

Arabesque is Bowdoin's only student-run, classical ballet group. Our mission is to provide experienced dancers with the opportunity to continue refining the techniques needed to learn and perform original choreography and to allow inexperienced dancers a place to learn and experience dance. We rehearse and hold open classes weekly, perform about four times throughout the school year, and occasionally host bonding activities that allow members to collectively celebrate this art form.

Avant-Garb Magazine is Bowdoin's premier student-run fashion publication. It was created in the Fall of 2017 as a platform for fashion, beauty, and culture on campus. We produce original content that reflects and celebrates the different styles and traditions of the student body. Avant-Garb seeks to demonstrate that fashion is more than aesthetic but rather, a powerful, ever-changing medium. The Board Game Club seeks to provide a venue for enjoying board games — a safe, rewarding, and intellectually challenging pastime — to Bowdoin students who might not otherwise have the means or opportunity to do so. BOKA is a colorful co-ed a cappella group that sings a wide variety of genres. BOKA is Bowdoin’s oldest co-ed a cappella group working to provide a fun environment for students to join a musical group on campus. We tend to sing songs that fall into the pop, folk, and indie categories and try to have as much fun as possible doing it. We like to have low-key and relaxed concerts for friends and students on campus and are most well known for “Bursurka”, our join concerts with Ursus and usually perform wearing jewel tones. BOKA is a very collaborative group, looking for input from all of our members, and more importantly, we are all friends and become family by the end of the year!

Bowdoin Animation Society (BAS) strives to bring appreciation for animation in all its forms, from Japanese anime to western-style cartoons to international short films. We watch a wide selection of genres weekly with consideration to the preferences of those present at each meeting. The club encourages discussion around the meanings and implications of each anime seen. Because anime is a worldwide phenomenon, the society also participates in events like Anime Boston where members can interact with the global community and deepen their ability to appreciate anime.

The Bowdoin Art Society has a three­fold mission:
To promote the vibrancy of the arts at Bowdoin, in both quality and capacity
To foster and establish an arts community at Bowdoin by way of weekly gatherings, social events, The Bowdoin Journal of Art.
To challenge the parameters of the arts, and make art at Bowdoin accessible to its entire community.
The Bowdoin Art Society curates a exhibition of over 100 works of student artwork each fall and publishes the Journal of Art, an online resource of undergraduate papers.

The Association for Women in Mathematics is a national organization to encourage women to study mathematical sciences and promote the equality and treatment of women and girls in the math. Our chapter of this club will allow women to learn about different careers in math and discuss the importance of women in mathematics.

Bowdoin Club Alpine Skiing’s mission is to promote and support a fun and competitive alpine skiing team on Bowdoin’s campus. The team competes in the Reynolds division of the USCSA (United States Collegiate Skiing Association) conference against many of Bowdoin’s peer institutions in Maine and across New England. The team seeks to support experienced racers who wish to continue racing for Bowdoin and encourage new racers to learn the skills and dynamics of the sport. The team trains at Lost Valley, a local ski area, twice a week, and competes in Slalom and GS races on weekends throughout the winter and early spring. The team hosts weekly dryland trainings in the Buck Fitness Center throughout the fall and occasionally in winter and spring.

Club Basketball practices approximately twice per week from October through March, and plays occasional games against New England schools such as Bates, Boston College, and Harvard. We have no coach and players of all levels are welcome. Varying levels of commitment are acceptable. Above all, if you would love to continue playing basketball or you just want a way to stay in shape while meeting people in college, Club Basketball is a great outlet for that.

The purpose of Club Tennis is to give Bowdoin students an outlet to play tennis. Whether a first time player just wants to learn how to play or an experienced veteran wants to compete against other schools, Club Tennis is the appropriate outlet.

We hold practice 2-3 times/week and compete against other club teams in New England! As a co-ed club we hold casual co-ed tournaments with Colby and Bates, and the men's team competes in the intercollegiate men's volleyball league.

Bowdoin College Club Water Polo was founded in the early 1970s as recreational group and has since grown into a competitive member of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA). From 1999 to 2007 the Polar Bears competed in the CWPA New England conference; today they are members of the North Atlantic conference. Bowdoin College Club Water Polo has a limitless roster and welcomes both experienced and novice players. We encourage anyone willing to learn and compete to join the team, though comfort in the water is a must. Bowdoin Water Polo prides itself on its commitment to companionship, teamwork, and fair play.

Bowdoin College Equestrian Team consists of novice/experienced riders who want to start/continue their education in English Hunter/Jumper riding. To increase inclusivity on the team, we have split the equestrian team into two sects: varsity and JV. The varsity team competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). The JV team is for students who want to ride casually, without showing. The goal of both teams is to be an inclusive space for everyone who has a love or interest in horses and create a space to learn and grow as riders, horsemen/women, and teammates.
