About Us

RISE is dedicated to creating spaces on campus for women to discuss the intersections of gender norms around femininity as well as gender violence. It aims to start dialogue at Bowdoin around womanhood and give a voice to women's experiences on campus with an emphasis on providing a safe space for women to share stories of their experiences. Its work culminates in "Rise: Untold Stories of Bowdoin Women," an annual production featuring Bowdoin women reading stories anonymously submitted by other Bowdoin women, with the goal of sparking important discussion on campus.
