About Us

Our Go Abstract Strategy Club's mission is to grow as learners and thinkers together, through the game of Go. Go (also called weiqi, baduk) is considered to be one of the most ancient pastime since it originated around 4th century BC, but what brings it at Bowdoin is its current relevance to disciplines like GOV, DCS, Math and Visual Arts, among others. The game only has 4 simple rules, but it takes a lifetime to master or an AI algorithm to perfect. It is enjoyable to play because you spend about an hour with your friend, see how they think, how brave or reckless they are, but you always learn something new.
