About Us
Creating Compassionate Leadership in Maine Boys organizes Bowdoin men to mentor Bath Middle School boys, focusing on healthy masculinity, leadership, social and emotional competence, and community. CCLIMB offers a unique opportunity for Bowdoin students to participate in curriculum development and gain experience working in the classroom. Tackling subjects like gender, sexuality, puberty, relationships, and emotions with fun and creative programming, CCLIMB aims to meet middle schoolers where they are at, while pushing them to envision and work towards a more equitable future. We believe that to address gender-based violence, it is necessary to dismantle toxic masculinity at young age. Through games, lessons, and mentoring, CCLIMB gives middle school boys the language to discuss these issues, the emotional maturity to identify toxic behavior, and the mentorship to imagine healthy alternatives.
