Subject: Join WOCC for USM's Women and Gender Studies Diana E Long Series Lecture

We hope that midterm season has been treating you kindly!

The University of Southern Maine Women and Gender Studies Program, has invited us to their Annual Diana E. Long Lecture: Adding Fuel to the fire Compounding Reproductive Justice after Dobbs featuring Monique Rainford, M.D, M.B.A. 

Dr. Rainford received her undergraduate degree at University of Pennsylvania before choosing to pursue medicine at Harvard Medical School. Currently, Dr. Rainford is a practicing physician of almost 20 years specializing in Obstetrics and Gyecology, and is well known and established within her field for advocating for reproductive rights and leading impactful conversations on the reproductive rights within marginalized communities.

Aside from being published in the South Florida Times, Thought Catalog, and Kevin MD, she has also made appearances on major news outlets such as CBS Baltimore, ABC 2 Baltimore and the Maggie Linton Show. Dr. Rainford is the author of Pregnant While Black, Advancing Justice for Maternal Health in America. 

Dr. Rainford will be delivering a lecture at the University of Southern Maine on the issues of maternal health and reproductive rights on Thursday, October 17th, 2024. Following the lecture, a roundtable of local experts will offer insights about the current challenges concerning reproductive and maternal rights that Maine communities currently face. 

We do have one van available, but we would love love love LOVE ❤️❤️❤️❤️ it if another person who is van certified would volunteer to drive people to USM’s campus, as well! Please reach out if you are interested in helping!!

Please register on campus groups, and meet at the POLAR BEAR STATUE by 4:45 p.m. and we will provide dinner after the roundtable discussion!! We will be arriving back on campus ~ 8:50 p.m.

Join the WOCC club at the University of Southern Maine to their annual Diana E. Long Lecture: Adding Fuel to the Fire - Compounding Reproductive Injustice after Dobbs featuring Monique Rainford, M.D., M.B.A. on Thursday October 17, 2024 in Hannaford Hall on the University of Southern Maine Portland campus.

Dr. Rainford, author of Pregnant While Black: Advancing Justice for Maternal Health in America, will deliver a lecture on issues of maternal health and reproductive justice. The lecture will be followed by a roundtable of local experts offering insights on the particular challenges currently facing Maine communities.

We will be leaving from the polar bear statue at 4:45pm. and returning back to campus ~ 8:50 pm.
Natalie Turrin from the Sexuality, Women, and Gender department will be sponsoring this event as well as a dinner after the keynote lecture and roundtable discussion which is from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm!
