Join Kate Nicholson, certified yoga teacher and Assistant Director of Student Wellness, for a 45-minute yoga practice perfect for people who just never got into yoga, thought yoga wasn't for them or are new to the practice for any other reason. In yoga, we are asked to embrace the concept of a 'beginner's mind' to help accept ourselves and this moment as they are and remain spacious to possibilities. See, you're already "good" at yoga! We will practice a short meditation, simple and sweet sequence of movements for grounding that you can then use in your dorm yoga throughout the week and finish with a chance to chat and connect with each other. Password for zoom call: YOGA
Would you like to sign out one of our yoga mats for the semester to use in your dorm or for hopeful outdoor classes? Contact Kate Nicholson in Counseling & Wellness to arrange for a mat: knichols@bowdoin.edu
Join Lisa Peterson, Director of Gender Violence Prevention & Education, for a virtual workshop to learn skills in interrupting unsafe and disrespectful behavior and language that you might experience in both in-person and virtual settings.
Join Reslife and Student Activities in fun conversations to meet students from all class years. Feel free to bring out your favorite desserts or snacks to munch on during the call! We will be using zoom to connect. Please fill out the registration form so we can try to get random groups assembled. The registration form is linked below. Self-Care and Community-Care in the Age of BLM and Anti-Racism: As our nation and the world are grappling with the traumatic effects of systemic racism and police brutality that persist to this day, we at Counseling Service would like to help foster a space of safety, awareness, community, and healing. This is an opportunity to share our personal, social, political, and/or spiritual experiences together, supported by the teachings and practice of mindfulness meditation and compassion/loving-kindness. Our plan is to offer this as a regular, ongoing virtual (and perhaps in-person) space during the academic year. No previous experience is necessary, all those who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color are warmly welcome to join. Hosted by Shelley Roseboro and Roland Mendiola of Counseling and Wellness.
Put your teamwork and problem solving skills to the test in a virtual room escape! Join in iEscape and piece together evidence to solve puzzles, unpack evidence, unravel cryptic messages and escape before the clock runs out! Students can join as individuals or as a team. If you would like to join as a team, you must register by Tuesday, September 8th. Teams can be up to 10 people.
