"COP26" or The Glasgow Climate Pact Resources

Nature: ‘COP26 hasn’t solved the problem’: scientists react to UN climate deal
Ehsan Masood and Jeff Tollefson for Nature write that the final 11-page "Glasgow Climate Pact", says that greenhouse gas emissions must fall by 45% from 2010 levels by 2030 for global warming to be maintained at 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels. These efforts to decarbonize are not enough to limit the impending global temperature rise.

The Guardian: Today in Focus, "Cop26: where does the world go from here?"
The Guardian environment correspondent Fiona Harvey describes a global climate deal that makes some progress but goes nowhere near far enough to avert devastating global heating.

NPR: Here's what world leaders agreed to — and what they didn't — at the U.N. climate summit
Lauren Sommer for NPR reviews the agreements world leaders have signed on to after two weeks of negociations.
While some countries committed to more ambitious cuts to heat-trapping pollution, many nations did not agree to rein in emissions fast enough for the world to avoid the worst damage from climate-driven storms, heat waves and droughts.

Portland Press Herald Commentary: Was the climate change conference in Glasgow a success?
Local commentary from
Rev. Richard Killmer and Nate Rauh-Bieri as they reflect on the question “Was COP26 a success?”. They  submit that, though the conference did not accomplish everything it needed to, it did accomplish a great deal.
