Details
Loretta J. Ross, a cofounder of the reproductive justice movement, activist, scholar, and public intellectual, will join Bianca Williams, the Matthew D. Branche Associate Professor of Africana Studies and Anthropology, for a compelling conversation about her latest book, Calling In: How to Start Making Change with Those You’d Rather Cancel.
With five decades of experience in the human rights movement, Ross has been at the forefront of transformative work - from deprogramming white supremacists to teaching convicted rapists about feminism, and organizing the second-largest march on Washington (the March for Women’s Lives, 2004). She co-founded the National Center for Human Rights Education and the SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective. Her contributions have earned her numerous honors, including a 2022 MacArthur Fellowship and a 2024 induction into the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
Now, through Calling In, Ross offers a bold new framework for engaging in difficult conversations and making change with those we might otherwise cancel. As an associate professor at Smith College and founder of LoRossta Consulting, she leads “Calling In” training across the country, helping people shift from division to dialogue.
