Mission
Sunrise Bowdoin is an official hub of the Sunrise Movement. We believe that climate change is one of the defining problems of our generation, the effects of which are already being felt, and often disproportionately in communities that contribute the least to this change. In the past, the national Sunrise Movement has focused on advocating for the Green New Deal. While we maintain our strong support for the Green New Deal, we devote the majority of our efforts to state-wide climate policy, politics, and advocacy. We believe that local climate activism will improve Maine for future generations and contribute to a sustainable environment for our state and the entire country. It has become incumbent upon our generation to make lasting and equitable change, and we are committed to this youth-led climate justice movement.
