 Events
Hi [FIRST_NAME],

Welcome back to campus!

I know its been a long year, but I'm thrilled to see many of you walking around, and I'm excited to think about the possibilities and opportunities to connect this semester. I will be on campus Monday-Friday this semester. Feel free to stop by and say hi once we're in Yellow status.

We have a lot of great opportunities to get involved this semester in person and virtually. I wanted to share a few things we have been working on. (I know this is a long email, but we have lots of exciting things happening).

  • 30 College Hours (when we're in Yellow Status)
As soon as we go down to Yellow Status 30 college will be open to students 7 days a week, from 8:00am-9:00pm. Remember that masks are mandatory at all times, and please make sure we are following the updated room capacities posted in each room. If you would like to make a room reservation, you can use this link: https://www.bowdoin.edu/diversity-inclusion/facilities-reservations/index.html
  • Virtual and In Person Office Hours
I will be available this semester for virtual, and in person (whenever possible) office hours if you're looking to connect with someone, or talk about religious/spiritual life needs. As a reminder, all communication is private and confidential. You can use this link to book an appointment.
  • Shabbat Kits
Bowdoin Dining is making to-go Shabbat Kits with Challah (!!!) and Grape Juice any Friday that falls under Orange status. You can pick up your kit anytime 11am-5:00pm from outside of 30 College (if it is raining or snowing we will put them underneath the front porch). Sign up for a kit here.
  • Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday is this coming Wednesday February 17. We will have ashes-to-go in individually packaged bags for students to self apply that day. CSU and CSA will be hosting a joint prayer service on Wednesday. More details to come.
  • Multifaith Fellows (In-Person)
I will be hosting a cohort of Multifaith Fellows this semester. This will be an in-person opportunity to learn more about religion, spirituality, and to talk about the role that religion can have in social justice and liberation. I will send out a follow up email next week with the link to the application and other details.
  • ACSLHE Conference (Virtual)
This year I will be attending (virtually) the conference for the Association for Chaplaincy and Spiritual Life in Higher Ed--which is the professional association I am a part of. Keynote speakers this year include: the Rev. William Barber (the Poor People's Campaign), US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, Varum Soni (Uni. of Southern California), and Ruth Simmons (President of Prairie View A&M University). March 8-9.
If you would like to attend the conference and get access to the keynote speakers, I do have a limited amount of student tickets I can purchase. Please email me if you would like me to buy a ticket for you.
