For the past 20 years, Dr. Jon Allen and his students have studied the invertebrate marine life in Harpswell. In this talk Dr. Allen will synthesize some of the surprising things that his research laboratory has learned about the life histories of marine invertebrates in midcoast Maine and explore how those discoveries have impacted research programs in the Pacific Northwest and on the Great Barrier Reef. He will also look forward to try and predict the next decade of work and the potential for future collaborations to yield insights into not just marine ecology, but also biomechanics, regenerative biology and immunology.
