The Gender, Sexuality, and Women backslash ’s Studies Program Presents SCREENS and SCREAMS A DOUBLE FEATURE OF FEMINIST FEAR March 27, 2025 - 8:30 PM THE SUBSTANCE ( Coralie Fargeat, 2024 ) A compelling exploration of female desire and the horrors of the beauty industry. When a fading actress injects herself with a black-market drug that creates a younger version of herself, she unleashes a monstrous force that threatens to consume her. As two versions of herself battle for control, we are exposed to the ugliness of objectifi cation and costs of impossible beauty standards.
