The Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies program presents: Screens & Screams - A Double Feature of Feminist Fear movie viewing in the Ham House living room!

Thursday, March 27 - 8:30 PM - The Substance (Coralie Fargeat, 2024). A compelling exploration of female desire and the horrors of the beauty industry. When a fading actress injects herself with a black-market drug that creates a younger version of herself, she unleashes a monstrous force that threatens to consume her. As two versions of herself battle for control, we are exposed to the ugliness of objectification and costs of impossible beauty standards.

Thursday, April 10, 8:30 PM - I Saw The TV Glow (Jane Schoenbrun, 2024)
In a haunting exploration of trans selfhood and becoming, Owen and Maddy find escape and solace in a strange, late-night teen show, "The Pink Opaque." But when the lines between reality and the screen shatter, their obsession turns confusing and terrifying. Discover the chilling truth of their identities in this 90s-infused nightmare where finding yourself means confronting the darkness and ugliness of the past.
