The Gender, Sexuality, and Womens Studies (GSWS) Workshop brings together faculty and students from Bowdoin College and beyond to foster intellectual community and interdisciplinary collaboration in gender and sexuality studies. The workshop is structured as a seminar-style meeting in which an author presents a work-in-progress. Before each meeting, registrants receive the author’s unpublished paper, about 25 pages in length. The author and a discussant open the discussion with short presentations. Then, attendees continue to discuss the paper with the author. Snacks will be provided.
First meeting: Thursday, February 13 @ 5pm. Keona Ervin. Regine Pierre-Lewis ‘25, Discussant. “Refusal: Black Women, Class Struggle, and the Practice of Freedom” [Paper distributed Feb. 6]
Second Meeting. April 24 @5 pm. Angel Matos, "On Blinds, Curtains, and Frosted Glass Windows: Youth Cultures and the Politics of Opacity" [Paper distributed April 17].
