A conversation with honorary degree recipient Bob White '77, P'15. Moderated by Andrew Rudalevige, Thomas Brackett Reed Professor of Government. Tickets are not required to attend. This event will be streamed live at https://www.bowdoin.edu/live/.

Bob White offers a unique perspective on the world of politics, having been deeply involved in senatorial, gubernatorial, and presidential campaigns following a distinguished career in business. One of the founding partners of Bain Capital, he took a leave of absence in 1994 to support his business partner and friend Mitt Romney in Romney's senate campaign against the late US Senator Edward Kennedy. He chaired Romney's presidential campaigns in 2008 and in 2012—when Romney was the Republican nominee for president—and he led the transition committee in 2002 when Romney was elected governor of Massachusetts. In his book Turnaround, Romney describes White as his "wingman." Today, White is a senior lecturer at Harvard Business School (HBS). His board service includes twenty-nine years on Bowdoin's board of trustees, including three years as chair (2019–2022), the Board of Dean's Advisors at HBS, and the Board of Governors of the London School of Economics. He is currently a member of the board of the Boston Celtics and was a founding director of Boston Celtics United for Social Justice.
