Join professors Tess Chakkalakal and Brock Clarke for a reception to welcome listeners and supporters of their Dead Writers podcast to the Bowdoin College Museum of Art (BCMA) entryway Pavilion. Brock and Tess will offer a sneak peek into Season 2 and look back on Season 1’s highlights, particularly their visits to Longfellow and Hawthorne houses in Maine. Reception attendees will also be able to view the exhibition Poetic Truths: Hawthorne, Longfellow, and American Visual Culture, 1840-1880 alongside Brock and Tess as well as Laura F. Sprague, senior consulting curator at the BCMA. The exhibition was organized in tandem with the George J. Mitchell Dept. of Special Collections & Archives’ Bowdoin College Class of 1825 project and supported by the Lowell Innes Fund. It opens February 6 and closes July 20, 2025.

Free and open to the public; no registration required. Presented by Dead Writers podcast, the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, and the Bowdoin Library.

Dead Writers is produced with the generous support of Bowdoin alums, Bath Savings, and Bowdoin College.
