Please join us for a viewing of the documentary film "Morning Sun" (2003) with an introduction by Bowdoin Professor of Asian Studies and Cinema Studies, Shu-chin Tsui.

The film depicts the history of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (c.1964-1976). It provides a multi-perspective view of a tumultuous period as seen through the eyes—and reflected in the hearts and minds—of members of the high-school generation that was born around the time of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.

This program is being presented in conjunction with the opening of the exhibition Hung Liu: Happy and Gay on view at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art through May 31, 2026. It is free and open to the public.

Bowdoin College is committed to providing an accessible and welcoming environment. Please contact the Events Office (events@bowdoin.edu or 207-725-3433) with any questions regarding the accessibility of this event and/or to request accommodations.
